Essential items you should carry on your UTV
When riding your UTV, you should always carry a few items to be prepared in case an unexpected situation happens.
There are some essential items that all riders should have with them before they head down that dusty trail. Side by side vehicles can be great tools and a lot of fun. However, fun and safety go hand in hand, which is why you should always prepare with some essential items.
There are different tools that you may need on your way on the trail, but you can never know for sure so it’s better to carry some extra ones.
- Map and compass
- Multi-tool and/or Swiss Army knife
- A small flashlight is handy when you don’t have natural light. While having a bigger flashlight on hand is helpful (you can never have enough light), a small penlight is great for helping you see any issues that may be tucked back in the nooks and crannies of your machine.
- Vice grips
- Pliers
- One changeable screwdriver flat head/phillips head
- Allen Wrench Set
- T-Handle Socket Set
- Axle Wrench
- A good Tow Strap
- Fire extinguisher
- Any extra hardware, nuts and bolts. They are very handy.
- Last but not least, always keeping a spare cvt belt, Spare rim and tire, and the tools necessary to replace these items.
Final thoughts
Besides the basic and emergency tools that we recommend you to carry on your UTV, don’t forget to wear the correct clothing (boots, gloves, googles, helmet and long pants) and keep in mind the personal items you must carry too: phone, drinking water and first aid kit.
It’s important to keep the right tools on hand and take a look at your ride before going out. You need to keep a certain assortment of items with you to keep your machine running in case of mechanical issues.
