UTV and ATV Easy Maintenance

Fluids

When the oil is opaque/thick and goopy, it’s the right time for the oil change. Keep in mind that UTV/ATV oil tanks don’t require large amounts of oil, so be careful not to overfill them.
Coolants are very important because they prevent the engine from overheating. Take a look at the coolant levels. Also, be sure that the radiator doesn’t have any leaks and that the cap is tightly sealed.
Filters
Your UTV/ATV also has several filters that need to be changed regularly, since they keep all your fluids in good condition and free of debris. The oil filter is changed every time the oil is changed.
Check that the fuel filter right under the fuel tank isn’t clogged up. It doesn’t have to be changed very frequently, but it’s important to take a look to ensure it’s in good condition. If it’s not, it needs to be replaced.
Another filter is the air filter that keeps debris and dust from entering your engine’s combustion. Take a look – if you see too much dust, it has to be replaced. Otherwise, you’ll need to change it every few months if you ride on dusty/muddy trails.
Tires
Your tires tackle all the difficult terrain you drive through. We recommend having a tire pressure gauge. Keep your tires up to the manufacturer’s suggested pressure level and examine them for bald spots, embedded objects, or uneven wear. Needless to say, never ride on bad tires and check your tires’ pressures at least once per week.
UTV/ATV drivelines transfer power from the engine to the wheels, so if they malfunction you won’t be able to drive your vehicle. Inspect the driveline on your ATV/UTV frequently and spray it with a chain lubricant now and then. If you think there is something wrong with it, call a professional. This is a crucial part of your vehicle and needs special attention.
Remember, before every ride, check the tire’s pressure, the oil, the coolant, and the electrical wiring. It’s important to notice if your vehicle is making any different noises. Never start a ride without a full tank of gas. You don’t want to try riding on a partial tank only to hit empty in the middle of nowhere – it can be dangerous.
